Offshore Construction Vessel Goliath Delivered
One of the world’s largest multi-purpose offshore construction vessels (OCVs), the OSA Goliath, built for Singapore-based Coastline Maritime, has been built to ABS standards. The unit is 590 ft by 39.5 ft with a deadweight of 22,000 tons. It is equipped with a dynamic positioning rating of DP-3 and features a 2,000 ton crane that can be used to install offshore platforms, deepwater pipelines and offshore wind turbines. The vessel was built at Drydocks World, Batam Indonesia, and a similar vessel, OSA Samson, which will also be ABS classed is currently under construction at the same yard and scheduled for delivery early 2010. With the emerging need for offshore wind turbine installations, these vessels are well positioned to support wind installations and subsea construction support.
