The OSA Goliath

Built for Coastline Maritime by Drydocks World Pertama on the Indonesian island of Batam, the Goliath is the largest Offshore Support vessel in the world.

Lets take a look at the specs!

Dynamic Positioning System

k-pos-dp3132-300x228Now lets take a look at the DP system.  She is Kongsberg equipped Class 3, so you know the tech is top of the line!

Kongsberg K-Pos dual redundant main operating station on aft bridge.

Kongsberg K-Pos simplex back-up operating station on forward bridge.

Kongsberg C-Joy independant joysticks on forward and aft bridges.

Kongsberg C-Wing remote joystick, with plug-in point port and starboard.

1 x HiPAP acoustic position reference system, with two 500mm transducers.

2 x Differential GPS position reference systems.

2 x Bandak Mk 15B taut wire position reference systems.  Port and starboard.

2 x Fanbeam short-range laser position reference systems.  Forward and aft.

Power Generation

Eight Caterpillar 3516C engines drive generators supplied by Leroy Somer.

Each generator outputs 2,200 kilowatts, giving a total of 17,600 kilowatts available.

An emergency generator with a Caterpillar 3500B engine is installed, which outputs 1424 kilowatts.

Thrusters

Aft: Three Rolls Royce azimuth thrusters, each of 3,333 kilowatts.

Fwd: Two Rolls Royce drop-down azimuth thrusters, each of 2,400 kilowatts, plus Two Rolls Royce tunnel thrusters, each of 1,355 kilowatts.

All thrusters are powered by frequency-drive motors supplied by Wartsila.

Total thruster power available is 17, 509 kilowatts.

Cranes

2009_goliath_34Liebherr MTC 78000-1400 (1600) Litronic crane.  Rated for 1,600 tonnes static lift, or 1,400 tonnes if rotating.  This crane can handle lifts of 1,600 tonnes out to a radius of 35 metres, or 1,000 out to a radius of 48 metres.

The crane also has an intermediate block capable of handling loads up to 200 tonnes, and a third fast block rated at 50 tonnes.  The smaller block can be used down to a depth of 300 metres below sea level.

In addition, the vessel is fitted with two Liebherr CBO 3600-100 Litronic cranes each of which is rated for 70 tonnes at a radius of 10 metres.

Moonpools

There are two moonpools fitted, each measuring 3.5 metres square.  A large clear deck area is available next to the moonpools on the starboard side of the vessel, where a client-supplied saturation diving spread could be sited.

Working Deck

There is approximately 2,300 square metres of free deck area, with a load rating of 5.0 tonnes per square metre.

Holds

There are three storage holds, accessible from the working deck as well as from below.  Total storage space is in the region of 11,000 cubic metres.

Accomodations

2009_goliath_13The vessel is rated to carry 296 personnel, although she actually has 314 bunks.  Available for the client will be roughly 240 berths, once extra catering crew are in place to look after them.  There are 5 offices and 2 conference rooms available to the client.

The mess room will seat 150 at one time, and there is a large recreation room provided as well as a 24-seat cinema.

A fully fitted gym and sauna are also fitted, as well as a swimming pool installed above the bridge.

Helideck

The helideck has a diameter of 23 metres is sited above the bridge, and is capable of handling aircraft weighing up to 12.8 tonnes.

Firefighting

The vessel is equipped with four external fire monitors on the bow, capable of throwing water a distance of 150 metres.
